The first package shipped never made it to me. After pursuing with USPS for a month with no success, I reported back to the shipper. I was very pleased that they quickly sent another — and this one did arrive! I can’t say whether the plastic tools are effective for getting into the iPod because I had already opened mine by other means. The only real problem I had was discovering the release mechanism to free the ribbon cable where it connects to the circuit board. The ribbon cable will not pull out nor insert unless you open the release. (Be sure to close the mechanism on the fully-inserted new cable.)

The first use of the newly-charged battery gave me something like three hours play time. I had expected more. HOWEVER, with each charge/discharge cycle the battery run time is getting longer. I don’t think it has yet reached its full potential and am hoping for better than seven hours play per charge. Between uses there does not seem to be much, if any, decline in power due to internal bleed down.

So, I think this is a safe purchase for you and I recommend it.

After waiting the appropriate time period so that the mule carrying my order could swim all the way from China, I was pleasantly suprised that the package carrying the replacement battery contained no instructions. Never being one to refuse a challenge, I searched diligently across the internet and found the information I was looking for. Replacing the battery turned out to be very simple, and went off without a hitch. I am into my second charging right now, and received just over six hours of continuous use on my first charge.
All in all, for the price of under six bucks, I am very happy with the battery. The delivery mule could be brought up to the standards of the 21st Century, but what do you do? Oh, and the shipment tracking number is a joke. The transponder attached to the mules hindquarters was on the fritz, so I had no way of knowing just where my shipment was.
But, if you are patient, cheap, and your old iPod battery just ain’t getting it done anymore, have no fear, you will be satisfied with both the price and the quality of the product.
